Chief electoral officer FR Kharkongor on Monday said the Election Commission has made seizures worth over Rs 74 cr during Model Code of Conduct in the state.
Addressing the Media in Shillong, Kharkongor said the war on drugs has been intensified in view of the model code of conduct enforcement in the state.
The total seizure during the election Model Code of conduct amounts to Rs 74.18 crores of which the value of the cash was Rs 8.71 crores and Drugs worth Rs 33.25 crore were seized,” the Chief Electoral Officer said.
Beside this, liquor worth Rs 2.62 crore, Precious metals worth Rs 91 lakhs and freebies is Rs 28. 69 crores were also seized from across the state.
In 2018, the total seizure was only 1.15 crore.
