Tura MDC and BJP candidate Bernard N Marak on Tuesday filed his nomination for the upcoming Meghalaya Legislative Assembly election scheduled to be held on February 27.
Speaking to reporters after filing his nominations for the South Tura seat at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, Marak calls the contest with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma ‘ a fight against corruption.’
““It’s a fight against corruption and I am standing as a candidate on behalf of the party BJP which is against corruption, we have zero tolerance against corruption and that is what we are going to show to the world, we have been the victim of bad politics,” the BJP State vice President said.
Stating that the people of Meghalaya, particularly from South Tura are deprive of the central schemes, he said as a BJP leader, they want to ensure that not even a single person is left out in availing central schemes.
“They have been deprived in the last five years. All the projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister are sponsored by the centre only. It is the projects the credit of which should go to our honourable Prime Minister and not to the CM. He is inaugurating all the projects that have been sanctioned by the Centre, there is no single project that has been initiated by the CM,” Bernard said.
With a few days left for the poll, Bernard N Marak is confident of beating Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in his stronghold of South Tura.
