Tura MDC Bernard N Marak takes up initiative to plant 10,000 trees in Tura constituency

SHILLONG, MAY 6: Tura MDC Bernard N Marak has taken up an initiative to plant 10,000 trees in Tura constituency and to reach beyond 1 million trees in the entire Garo Hills.

“This initiative is aimed to cover the catchment areas which fall under the Nokmas and other water sources which are alarmingly drying up in Garo Hills. This is a threat to human life especially the younger generation which will face the consequences if nature is not cared for now. It is a sad fact that nature has been destroyed by human greed and the eco system has been thrown out of balance,” Marak said on Monday.

He said that the climate change is alarming and it is going to affect the entire world badly in the near future. The duty of every individual is to care for mother nature and it is mother nature which will restore back the balance.

Marak also stated that eco clubs will be formed in colleges, schools and A’khings to take up the plantation mission in Garo Hills. Bernard also invited young people to join the mission to make Meghalaya Green and stable.
