‘Police intensifies vigil across district; registers all cases of Arson and investigation is going on’: SP

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of police Rituraj Ravi today informed that the Police are on the job and all the cases of Arson have been registered while informing that so far no arrests have been made in the matter.

 

Speaking to Meghalaya News 24, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of police Rituraj Ravi said, “So in all the cases of arson, the cases were registered and the matter is under investigation.”

 

 

Asked if police could identify the people involved in the petrol bomb attacks, the SP said, “The matter is under investigation.”

 

Asked if the arson cases are linked to the Ichamati Case, Ravi said, “We are not ruling out anything at this juncture, however, it would be premature to say anything as of this moment, we are working on it from all possible angles.”

 

Ravi further said that selling of loose petrol has also been regulated after a Order by the DC

 

He added that the police have intensified security in the city following these incidents of Arson in the city.

 

While adding that the night patrol is also on and the police are working round the clock to ensure no such cases happen , they also want to ensure that there is no fear psychosis in the public and peace prevails in the city.

 

It may be mentioned that on March 27, two persons were allegedly beaten to death by miscreants at Ichamati. They have been identified as (L) Esan Singh and (L) Sujit Dutta. Both are labourers working in limestone quarries. Their bodies were found at Ichamati and Dalda respectively. And notably four arrests have been made in the case.
