UDP leader and cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh, on Friday said the party will announce its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha seats (both Shillong and Tura) within this month.
Talking to Media, Lyngdoh said the process of identifying the Lok Sabha candidates will be completed within a month.
“As far as UDP is concerned we have already gone ahead with the process of identifying our candidates. The process should be through in the next one month or even less than that,” Lyngdoh said.
Asked about MDC elections, he said “Yes we are (preparation) is going on in full swing, the state election committee has already met couple of times and we should be ready with atleast preliminary list of candidates ready by January end.”
Asked, the UDP leader further said “The former Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) president Robertjune Kharjahrin is one of the individuals, who have expressed interest in contesting, and as we speak there are three or four contenders for the UDP Ticket for Shillong parliamentary seat.”
“I think it should be ready by a couple of weeks from today,” he added.
