Meghalaya Pradesh Congress committee President Vincent H Pala said he is willing to give the Red Carpet welcome to Dr Mukul Sangma if he joins Congress.

Speaking exclusively to Meghalaya News 24, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president said, “Personally I don’t have any problem with him. He is most welcome with the Red Carpet, not only welcome.”

Expressing his apprehension, Pala said he has urged the group led by Dr. Mukul Sangma to return back, however, he believes that Dr Sangma will never go back to Congress because he left the party with a reason.

“If Mukul Comes to the Congress we will be very happy, I used to work under him when he was the Minister I was an officer and when he was the Chief Minister I was MP, so I have no problem, I will be very happy if he comes back to the Congress rather few days back I called Zenith, I said that I have seen in the news that you are going to form your own party, some media says you are joining BJP, why not come back to your own party. I will be very happy if he comes but I don’t think because when he left the party he left with a reason and we are in opposition before and now also, so I don’t think he will come,” the MPCC president said.

Admitting that the vote share of both Congress and TMC has gone down because of divided opposition which helped NPP to gain massive success in Garo Hills in the recently held Assembly polls, Pala said definitely if Congress and TMC works together they will give a good fight to NPP.

Asked, Pala said, “I think in the vote share in Garo Hills, it’s very clear that if Congress and TMC works together, that equalise the vote share of the NPP in terms of percentage, so definitely if the Congress and TMC we should be able to give a good fight in Garo Hills.”

“Dr. Mukul was very clear when he left the party, he has never said that he has some differences with me. He has said that he has taken the decision because of reasons and he planned it long back, before he left the party he said that it’s not a one day plan, as he has planned much before that means whether I become a president or whoever becomes a president he would have left the party and find alternative,” he added.

It may be mentioned that putting an end to all rumours TMC Meghalaya leader and Former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has categorically denied that he will be joining BJP by resounding ‘NO’, while hinting towards floating a new Regional political Party before 2028 elections.
