SHILLONG, MAR 26: World Organization of Student and Youths (WOSY) of NEHU alleged that NEHUSU vice president Easterson Sohtun and his group were the one who started the clashes during the Holi celebration in the university campus on 25 March.
Speaking to media persons, Convener WOSY Sumarling Mawlong informed that the organization has received permission from the office of Registrar of NEHU to organize Holi celebration and the organization had invited international students and professors to take part in the celebration.
Mawlong informed that during the course of the celebration, NEHUSU vice president came along with his groups in two motorcycles and they were carrying hammers.
“The vice president of NEHUSU tried to stop the Holi celebration alleging that we have invited students from outside the campus but in the course of arguing we have explained to him and his group that all those present in the celebration are from NEHU besides from EFLU” said Mawlong.
Mawlong said that though there was a heated argument yet there was never a scuffle nor did body touch him as claimed by NEHUSU vice president but it was him who came to the celebration with a different motive to create difference among those who celebrated Holi and those who did not celebrate.
“We were shocked to see in a few sections of the media that NEHUSU vice president was beaten up and had sustained injuries, we demand from him to name those who had beaten him up” she added.
