MP should be voice of people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region in Parliament: Prof Lakhon Kma

SHILLONG, APR 19: Independent candidate Prof Lakhon Kma said an MP should definitely be the voice of the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region in Parliament.

Speaking to reporters, Kma said that it doesn’t matter whether an independent candidate or any party but an MP has to be one, who can carry the voice of the people. “The MP should be the voice of the people and sit in parliament to deliberate on policies that are going to be beneficial for the state.”

Speaking about the issues faced by the people, the independent candidate said that all parents are worried about the future of their kids, who are going to school, college and university as if they don’t find a job, it will become a futile effort.

“So I do believe that their hard work should not go wasted, let them work hard,” he said while assuring that if elected MP,  he would come up with a policy to address the issue.

“We will make the policy that is required to sustain their growing demands and their demands of course is good livelihood and employment and this is where I think we have to be more and more serious,” he said.
