Exercise restraint in provocation BJP Karyakartas: Hek to NDA partners

Senior BJP legislator AL Hek has asked the NDA partners to exercise restraint from provoking the BJP Karyakartas.

Hek was reacting to the recent controversy where allegedly NPP MLA Sanjay Sangma made a provoking statement during an election rally, where he in his speech allegedly put a negative  note against the BJP where he also mentioned that the Koch, Hajong and non tribal hindu communities have nowhere to go because NPP have switched off their candidate.

“I request our NDA partners to refrain from any kind of provocation against BJP karyakartas,” he said.

The BJP leader said that the matter however was already taken up with the NPP national president Conrad K Sangma.

“From the state unit (of BJP) already written to the Chief Minister and the level (BJP) also has already taken up with the National President of the NPP,” Hek said adding, “Since already given the letter let’s see the response.”

Asked about the Garo Hills leaders of BJP are asking NPP leader Sanjay Sangma to apologise, Hek said, “This is not only the Garo Hills section, the state president of BJP and the state unit have also taken up this.”

The BJP MLA said a statement of one individual cannot be taken as a statement of the entire party.

“This is the talk of one individual, we cannot blame the NPP,” he added.

“Anybody saying ‘switched off BJP’ is it really switched off or what? BJP is a party which is ruling in the whole country, can you believe that?” Hek asked.

The BJP legislator who is also the cabinet minister in Conrad Sangma Government said the NDA is looking forward to cross the 400 mark in the lower house of the parliament.

“The BJP with the NDA should cross the 400 mark,” he said.

He further denied that the NDA partners undermine  BJP.

Whether BJP is eying for the Rajya Sabha seat from Meghalaya, Hek said he has no idea since the understanding is there with the national leaders and not the state BJP.

“See this is the all India election, this is not Meghalaya election, to take the decision, it has to be taken with all the alliance partners, the alliance partner is not only NPP, not only the other states, we have the alliance partner in many states. This is the understanding with all the NDA alliance partners, this is not happening only in Meghalaya, you see in Arunachal Pradesh both the seats of the NPP and other political parties also have supported the BJP,” he said.
