Aiming to get a Lion share in the new government in Meghalaya, Meghalaya BJP has asked Conrad Sangma to induct two of its legislators in the new cabinet.
Maintaining that this is a coalition Government, BJP Meghalaya President Ernest Mawrie said both the MLAs are very senior and the central BJP leadership wants the two MLAs to be inducted in the new cabinet.
“From the central leadership of BJP as well as from the state BJP we have approached CM but again it is his prerogative, but our central leaders’ wants both BJP MLAs should be inducted in the cabinet,” Mawrie said.
Asked, BJP senior legislator AL Hek said, “Yes, we have asked the party to communicate that to Conrad.”
BJP sources said, “While Conrad has to face a lot of difficulties in getting the support from other MLAs and political parties, we were the first ones who stood by the NPP.”
NPP National President and the Parliamentary Party leader Conrad Sangma will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday. This will be his second term as the Chief Minister of the state.
Reportedly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
