Meghalaya Govt awaits police inputs

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday said, the state Government has authorized police to take necessary steps and depending on the inputs from the police, and only then police and government will take its own course of action.

He was reacting to the FKJGP sponsored rally against unemployment , which turned as sporadic cases of attack on people, including the press and vehicles were reported.

“We authorize the  police authority to take necessary step, We have already authorized, I have already spoken to city SP and East Khasi Hills SP and now they on the job, let us see we will again get all the inputs from the police and then the police and government will take its own course of action,” Tynsong said.

He further said that the permission for the rally was given by the district administration, “The best people to know is the district administration, so they have assessed everything along with the police, I am very sure it should be under control,” he added.

Asked, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “The message is very clear see, you can have peace rally meeting or whatever you want, it’s ok but please don’t create law and order problem and the message is very clear, I would request all the leaders of FKJGP or any other NGOs leaders you can have your meetings, there is no doubt but at the same time please control your members or volunteers whatever because we don’t want to see any law and order problem in Meghalaya.”
