Meghalaya Govt yet to take final call on relocation of Sweepers’ Colony

 Urban Affairs Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday said the government will soon take a final call on relocation of the Sweepers’ Colony from Them Iew Mawlong.

 

Speaking to reporters, Dhar said, “Anyways since they are their own people we will bring on board everybody and the final call will be taken by the government.”

 

He said that the government however is yet to finalise its decision on the matter of relocating the 342 families of Sweepers’ Colony to the existing land of the Shillong Municipal Board.

 

“The blueprint on the matter has already been submitted to the Harijan Panchayat Committee and we are yet to call them,” he said.

 

When asked, Dhar said, “Based on the situation, because we are not doing this for election purposes please remember. This is a permanent solution so the people of the state don’t get mix it. We cannot play politics with the lives of the people. This is not an election.”
