National Federation of New State demands separate Khasi-Jaintia state

President of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) K.P Pangniang today informed that the party who has been demanding for a separate Khasi-Jaintia state, from 15 November 2022 will be one of the permanent members to the National Federation of New State (NFNS).

 

Speaking to media persons, Pangniang said that the NFNS is a federation of all stakeholders which includes the Garoland, Gorkhaland, Bodoland, Tripaland, Karbi Anglong, Budelkhand of Uttar Pradesh demanding for creation of new states.

 

Pangniang said that there will be a joint meeting of all the leaders of stakeholders who demand for a new state on the 30 November at Mawphanlur villages in West Khasi Hills to discuss and to unitedly strengthening the movement of statehood demand from the government of India.

 

“The objective of the meeting scheduled on 30th of this month at Mawphanlur is to unite all leaders of all stakeholders from the North East region who are demanding for creation of news states from the government of India” said Pangniang.

 

Pangniang said that in the meeting the HSPDP has unanimously resolved that the party will make a clear voice with one voice to the government of India, the demand for a newly separate Khasi-Jaintia state in the upcoming winter session of the parliament.

 

He added that the part has had an in-depth discussion regarding to re-look and re-visit the important issues of the party like demanding from the government of India to Amend the para 12 A (b) of the Sixth Schedule to Constitution of India, to recognize the Khasi language to the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India, implement ILP in the state and importantly the demand for final settlement of the long pending interstate boundary between Meghalaya and Assam as already notified by the state government.

 

On the hand the president of HSPDP K.P Pangniang said that the party reiterates that there will be no uranium mining in the state of Meghalaya and this issue has been the party main agenda in the party’s manifesto.

 

Pangniang said that in the meeting, discussion was also held on the new policy for the benefits of the farmers in the state in accordance with new technology, and execution of the farmers and the party strongly feels that it is high time for the state government to bring a new policy for the youth in an effective manner

 

“At the same time the stand of the party is that, it is high time to relook and revisit the reservation policy for the people of the state for the larger interest of the youths especially for the youth hailing from the Khasi-Jaintia Hills district” he added.

 

Pangniang informed that soon the party will release its manifesto after finalizing all these important issues discussed today with the party office bearers.
