NPP meeting on Wednesday; likely to discuss about candidates for Lok Sabha polls

​The National People’s Party (NPP) will hold a meeting on Wednesday. According to the sources the meeting is likely to discuss about the candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha seat. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 4 PM on Wednesday.

 

It may be mentioned that after a series of meetings, Health Minister Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh emerged as a strong contender for the NPP ticket for the Shillong Parliamentary seat. The sources informed Meghalaya News 24 that Dr Lyngdoh is likely to get the NPP ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

 

Meanwhile, expressing confidence that NPP will perform better in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Education Minister and NPP leader Rakkam A Sangma said the vote bank of NPP across the state has increased.

 

“I don’t know but if she (Dr Ampareen) contests nothing like it, I would like her to contest because if she contests she will be one of the best choices for Shillong,” Sangma said.

 

“I don’t know what our party will decide but it’s my desire that we should have a candidate like her stature,” he added.

 

It may be mentioned that this would be the first meeting of the NPP after the New State Unit Party President Prestone Tynsong over the office .

 

One of the other key agendas of meeting is also expected to be the nomination of the new body of workers.
