Petrol, Diesel and essential commodities delivery resumes

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the state.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma took to Twitter to clarify that the state has no shortage of fuel after the Assam Mazdur Petroleum Unit announced the halt of oil supplies to the state.

He said, “There is no shortage of petrol and diesel in Meghalaya. Necessary actions have been initiated by the Government to ensure no shortage of stocks and supply. Request all citizens to not resort to panic buying of any essentials.”

Meanwhile, the delivery of petrol, diesel and essential commodities resumed to Khasi-Jaintia Hills on Friday after Meghalaya Government intervened to provide security to vehicles plying through the affected districts.

Assam Police on Friday allowed the goods-laden trucks to enter Meghalaya, for the first time after tensions rose between the two States following a clash in a disputed border area, in which six persons were killed four days ago, according to an official.
