NPP leader and legislator Rakkam A Sangma on Monday claimed Saleng Sangma will taste his first defeat in the Lok Sabha elections while contesting against NPP’s candidate Agatha Sangma from Tura seat.

The screening committee AICC approved the name of Congress legislator from Gambegre constituency, Saleng A Sangma as candidate for the Tura Parliamentary seat and Vincent H Pala for the Shillong seat.

“May be 2024, my brother Saleng will first taste defeat in the MP elections,” told Meghalaya News 24.

Stating that Saleng has to climb up a very huge hill, Rakkam acknowledged that all the candidates contesting elections are important.

The NPP leader further claimed that meeting the Prime Minister now is just a phone call away for the Meghalaya Chief Minister. He said NPP President Conrad Sangma has brought Delhi closer.

Talking about the achievement of NPP, the legislator said, “Under the able leadership of Conrad Sangma, he made Delhi closer. Earlier, meeting the Prime Minister and the Union Minister was very tough, just one phone call and it’s easy for our CM to meet the Prime Minister, Union Minister. NPP has made Delhi closer to the state.”

“As NPP party we are leaving no stone unturned, we are reaching out to every nook and corner of the state, even our candidate in Tura Agatha Sangma is reaching out to every nook and corner and people need confidence and leaders who meet the people,” he added.
