NEIGRIHMS achieved another feather in its cap with the inauguration of the most sophisticated and advanced interventional cardiac facility in the Department of Cardiology.
With the installation and commissioning of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath lab) with additional sophisticated features, patients with heart conditions visiting NEIGRIHMS will get the highest standard of care with enhanced accuracy and precision for their heart ailments.
The new Cath lab is equipped with Intra-cardiac echocardiography and 3D Electrophysiological Mapping for enhanced delineation of structural and functional integrity of the heart.
These devices, coupled with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) – an emerging technology for performing high-resolution cross-sectional imaging, Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) – a guide wire-based procedure to accurately measure blood pressure and flow through isolated segments of coronary arteries and Intra-vascular Ultrasonography (IVUS) – used for characterization of lesion morphology, quantify plaque burden, guide stent sizing, assess stent expansion, and identify procedural complications, Rotablation- a therapy performed with a small rotating cutting blade used to open a blocked artery and revamp the flow of blood to or from the heart, etc., would enable the Cardiologists to address all kinds of cardiac ailments. The patients will benefit from
the availability of every possible advance treatment for cardiac diseases and their complications.
