United Democratic Party leader Kyrmen Shylla on Wednesday said that the party will try its best to perform well in the Jaintia Hills region in 2028. He, however, ruled out any threat to the party due to the growing popularity of VPP.
Speaking to reporters, Shylla said that the three legislators of the region will be working as a team to increase the number of seats in 2028.
He said he believes that the people will give the UDP a chance from Jaintia Hills.
He recalled that the UDP had won from all the 7 seats of Jaintia Hills in 1998 and said that things changed in politics due to many factors. “There is nothing permanent in politics that is why every five years you will see new faces ,” he added.
Shylla also thanked the people of the three constituencies for giving the UDP legislators an opportunity to serve them again.
