VPP legislator from North Shillong Adelbert Nongrum on Monday demanded investigation into the death of a young man, who was admitted at NEIGRIHMS, after a road accident.
“Whoever is responsible, responsibility should be fixed according to the law of the land. The state government should intervene and set up a fair and strong investigating team to ensure such negligence should not happen in the near future,” Nongrum said.
It may be mentioned here that the family of the young man had on Sunday alleged that the hospital has mishandled the situation and that there were no doctors available at the hospital leaving the injured boy unattended for nearly five hours.
The accident occurred in Umiam area when the young man was riding his scooty and a Mahindra Thar coming from the opposite direction collided with his vehicle, causing severe injuries.
