Lok Sabha polls: Meghalaya BJP delegation met NPP National Prez Conrad Sangma to extend support

The State BJP delegation led by its president Rikman G Momin on Saturday met the National President of NPP who is also the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma on Saturday at the state secretariat.

South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai was also part of this delegation.

Talking to media persons after the meeting, Rikman G Momin said the BJP delegation  has come to convey the message given by the central leadership to Conrad Sangma.

“Whatever the central has already decided, support has already been given. Whatever message that was given we have to convey that,” Momin said.

Asked, he said they have come to meet the NPP Supremo Conrad Sangma to reiterate that whatever is the party ‘s decision they will abide by it.

“Whatever the central BJP leadership has decided we are going to abide by that as we are the soldiers of BJP. We are going to meet the party workers,” he added.

“Yesterday I got a call from our central leaders that since NPP is part and parcel of NDA Government, so naturally we are supporting NPP as directed by the central leaders,” the state BJP President said.

It may be mentioned that NPP has given tickets to Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh from Shillong seat and Agatha Sangma from Tura seat.

Earlier, the state BJP forwarded the names of as many as 11 aspiring candidates to the central leadership. While six are from the Tura parliamentary seat, five are from the Shillong seat.
