Meghalaya gears up for Poll tomorrow

​Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor said as many as 2445 polling parties left for their respective polling stations on Sunday.

Stating that with the adjournment of polls in Sohiong constituency, he said, a total of 3419 polling stations are there for 59 constituencies.

“The total polling stations are 3419 for the 59 constituencies.  Yesterday 974 left and today the remaining 2445 polling parties left for their respective polling stations,” Kharkongor said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills Sibhi C. Sadhu on Sunday said that in Entire district there are 97 vulnerable Polling stations and 5 critical Polling stations are there.

“To monitor these (polling stations) so far  seven companies of the Central Armed Police Force are deployed in the district,” Sadhu said.

The district administration is doing round the clock monitoring and checking.

He further said, “So we have total in our district there are 7 constituencies which are expenditure sensitive out of these we have identified several pockets which are expenditure​​ sensitive, where we have deployed additional static surveillance teams, flying squads and video surveillance team in these pockets to ensure more vigilance.”

The District administration of East Khasi Hills have constituted​ the ​ quick response team in the critical part of the state.

The Polling will be held from 7 AM to 4 PM on Monday in which over 21 lakh electors are likely to cast their vote.
