Meghalaya Govt soon to release Rs 52 crore for clearing salary of SSA teachers

Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Education Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang on Tuesday said that Meghalaya Government is implementing the quarterly system of payment of salary to the SSA teachers.

Addressing the gathering at the conference cum felicitation programme of SSA teachers, Shangpliang, “It has been taken up by the department that they will not fail in its duty to pay you every quarterly from now on.”

He informed that the State government will soon release Rs 52 crore for clearing the salary of the SSA teachers.

Clarifying doubts of the journalists, the Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Education said, “

“The capping norms which we were supposed to provide to the SSA teachers, there already in the process. The file has already moved from the department, and once the government releases it we will be able to release Rs 52 crores capping salaries to all the SSA teachers,” Shangpliang said.

Shangpliang was attending the conference cum felicitation programme organized by the Meghalaya SSA Schools’ Association (MSSASA) at U Soso Tham Auditorium here.

He said that the State government had already released the first instalment in the month of June as assured by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on the floor of the House in the Assembly session held earlier this year.

“The first instalment has already been released in the month of June. Normally we would like to release the second instalment in the month of December but due to the availability of fund made available by the CM, even the second instalment of the arrears has already been released this month and the process of releasing it to the respective teachers has already started,” he added.

 

He said the arrears pending for the SSA teachers would also be released at the earliest possible.

 

The former legislator also informed that the government had already released the second instalment this month.
