Police arrests 47 in Tura violence case; Extends monetary rewards to injured security personnel

​With the arrest of one more person by the West Garo Hills police in connection with the Tura violence, the number of arrestees has gone up to 47.

Police said, So far 40 males and 7 females have been arrested. Police arrested Chalte D Sangma who was spotted in videos.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Tura Vivekanand Rathore said Police has extended monetary rewards to all the security as well as police personnel injured in Tura violence.

“Today, monetary reward of Rs. 5000/- along with Letter of appreciation to all 12 Meghalaya Police & Home Guard personnel who were injured was given. Letters of appreciation have also been issued to 7 CRPF personnel who were injured in 24/7/23 violence,” Rathore said.

This reward is a departmental reward and in addition to the Rs. 50,000/- announced by the Chief Minister.

It may be mentioned that after the Chief Minister’s meeting in Tura a group of people created ruckus at CM’s Secretariat, pelted stones and destroyed as many as 21 vehicles, including five from the CM’s convoy, on Monday. Many individuals having affiliations with different political parties as informed by the Police have been arrested in connection with the Tura violence case .
