Meghalaya Govt & police should take action against whoever responsible for Tura violence

President of United Democratic Party (UDP) and the Chairperson of the state planning Board Metbah Lyngdoh said whoever  responsible for Tura violence the state Government and the police should take action.

Reacting to the recent Tura violence incidents and the present law and order situation, Lyngdoh cautioned the police to be alert 24×7, “because it’s about the safety and security of the people of the state.”

Talking to reporters, the UDP Chief said, law and order should not be taken for granted.

“Imagine on that day the Chief Minister himself; I could imagine that he was in a very very awkward position which has endangered the life of the Chief Minister. So, the police has to be more vigilant and more alert and they have to step in as far as intelligence is concerned and information and one should not stay back and relax just because Meghalaya is peaceful,” Lyngdoh said.

“We should not give any scope for any kind of anti-social elements to disturb peace and harmony prevails in the state. Whoever is responsible for those kinds of actions the police department and the Government have to take action,” he added.

Asked about the Law and order situation in the state, the UDP President expressed concern over the rising burglary and theft cases in the state.

“So far ok but there is always room for improvement in all aspects, so many theft cases are happening everywhere, in almost every village, so these are very very unfortunate kinds of situations,” he added.
