One male patient tested positive for dengue died in Tura; Hospitals on high alert

​Health Minister M Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday informed that one male patient tested positive for dengue died in Tura on Wednesday.

The patient was admitted in an ICU at a hospital in Tura.

“The deceased person was a resident of  Matchikol, Tura,” Lyngdoh said.

Meghalaya is witnessing a surge in dengue cases since past few days.

Talking to reporters in Shillong the Health Minister said, the Meghalaya Government has issued necessary advisories for dengue cases and hospitals are on high alert.

“So, we are collecting the information, and in the meantime necessary precautionary advisories have been issued to the people of the state and hospitals are on high alert,” Lyngdoh added.

She informed that the department does not have the exact data on the number of people affected as she was alerted on the matter just 48 hours back.

She said that the hotspots will be known after the health department gets a detailed report.

“I don’t have the details but generally it is located at the plain belts of the state, I am awaiting the information,” the Minister added.
