In an unfortunate incident, a student of Shillong Polytechnic, Mawlai on Monday committed suicide by hanging.
The student, Diana Dimre Ch Marak, age 24 was a residents of Upper Babupara, Tura West Garo Hills.
Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills Rituraj Ravi told exclusively to Meghalaya News 24 police are treating this as a case of suicide.
Asked, Ravi said, “Mawlai PS this morning got information from the Warden of Women hostel of Shillong Polytechnic institute at Mawlai that one lady had committed suicide by hanging.”
“The body was was discovered approximately around 2 am,” the SP added.
Police said the investigation is going on as nothing can be ruled. Meanwhile, the body was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for Post Mortem.
